NPS (Nominal Pipe Size) SCH40 pipe is measured on the outer diameter to determine fitting sizes. The SCH rating relates to the wall thickness. The actual pipe size measurement is the bore (inner diameter). NPS SCH40 pipe is not the same size as conventional plumbing pipe.

SCH40 PVC pipe and fittings are one of the most widely used materials for pipe installations, especially within hot tub and swimming pool construction. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications and commonly used on hot tubs, whirlpool baths, spas and swimming pools.

All fittings and pipework have smooth bores which aid in good flow characteristics and resistance to abrasion. PVC is lightweight, easy to handle and can be jointed using simple tools, PVC solvent cement and accessories.
